Kouki Oka (4th year student of the Integrated Doctoral Course) received the 11th Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Ikushi Prize.

Kouki Oka, a fourth-year student of the integrated doctoral course in the Department of Advanced Science and Engineering, Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, has received the 11th (Reiwa 2) JSPS Ikushi Prize from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

Development of Redox Polymers for Hydrogen Storage and New Functions

 

In 2020, 18 recipients were selected from among 165 doctoral students recommended by the heads of universities or academic societies, and Dr. Oka was chosen from among them to receive this prestigious award.

 

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Ikushi Prize was established by His Majesty the Emperor in 2009, the 20th year of His Majesty’s accession to the throne, as a fund for projects to support and encourage young researchers who are working hard on their studies and research in a difficult social and economic environment.

In response to His Majesty’s wish, this award was established in 2010 to honor outstanding doctoral students who are expected to contribute to the development of academic research in Japan in the future, in order to motivate them to study and conduct research, and to foster young researchers.

The award is given to doctoral students in all fields of the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences who have an excellent academic record in graduate school, possess a rich humanity, and are enthusiastic and proactive in their studies and research activities.

The recipient will receive a certificate, a medal, and a supplementary prize of 1.1 million yen to encourage his or her studies. (From the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Web page)
