2026.02.27 Prof. Hiromi NAKAI has been awarded the 2025 Waseda Research Award (Leading Research). Professor Hiromi Nakai, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, School of Advanced Science and Engineering, has been awarded the 2025 Waseda Research Award (Leading Research). The 2025 Waseda Research Award (Leading Research) Recipient Hiromi NAKAI Waseda University established the Waseda Research Awards to promote creative research and strengthen international outreach. The program confers Large Research Project Awards to researchers taking the lead in large scale research, and High-Impact Publication Awards to young researchers achieving research results with a high international impact. From the 2024 academic year, the Leading Research Award was added to recognize researchers engaged in leading and promoting creative research. (Official website) Professor Nakai made the following comments upon receiving the award: I am deeply honored and sincerely grateful to have been selected for the Research Award for Promoting Original Research. This recognition brings me great encouragement and motivation. In my laboratory, I often ask my colleagues and students, “Where does the originality of your research lie?” I believe that the achievements recognized by this award are the result of the creativity and dedication of both current and former members of my research group. They are by no means accomplishments that I could have achieved alone. I am also profoundly thankful to our collaborators, both in Japan and abroad, whose partnership has enabled us to advance research that extends beyond theoretical and computational chemistry into practical applications. Encouraged by this award, I will continue striving to promote and develop original research in the years to come.
