Prof. Hiromi NAKAI has been awarded the Chemical Society of Japan Award for 2025.

Professor Hiromi Nakai, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, School of Advanced Science and Engineering, has been awarded the Chemical Society of Japan Award for 2025.

The Chemical Society of Japan Award for 2025

Awarded research title “Developments of Cutting-Edge Computational Chemistry Methods and Theoretical Studies on Large-Scale Complex Systems.

Recipient Hiromi Nakai

The Chemical Society of Japan Award is presented to members of the Chemical Society of Japan who have conducted distinguished research of significant value in the fundamental or applied fields of chemistry, and whose achievements are considered particularly outstanding. (Official website)

Professor Nakai made the following comments upon receiving the award.

Quantum chemistry is the field that explores the states of electrons, which fundamentally determine the properties of atoms and molecules. Understanding them requires solving the Schrödinger equation, one of the fundamental equations of quantum mechanics. In this milestone year, marking exactly 100 years since the Schrödinger equation was first proposed, I am deeply honored to receive this award in recognition of my work on developing computational methods for large and complex systems that have traditionally been difficult to treat. This achievement would not have been possible through my efforts alone, and I am sincerely grateful to the many collaborators who have supported this work.

School of Advanced Science and Engineering congratulates Professor Nakai on his outstanding contributions and on receiving this prestigious award.
